English Numbers and Counting
Learn how to count in English.
Notes:
- The numbers 13 to 19 use a variation of the numbers 3 to 9 plus
"teen," which means "ten." This is where the
words "teenager" and "teen" come from - they refer to
someone who is between 13 and 19 years old.
- Beginning with 21, you have to put a hyphen between the two numbers:
thirty-four, ninety-six, fifty-three.
- "Four" has a u but "forty" does not.
