Indefinite Article

to refer to something unspecific.

The indefinite article an is used in front of words that begin
with a vowel sound, which does not necessarily correspond to the letter
that the word actually begins with.

That's an interesting idea
I have to wait an hour
We have an understanding

He has a unique idea
The indefinite article one - which is also a number -
indicates that there is only one of something.
